It’s important to start by saying one isn’t better than the other. There is no good or bad here, they’re just different.
You can be religious without being spiritual. You can be spiritual without being religious. You can be both. Or neither.
Religion is a set of beliefs shared by a specific group of people. These beliefs are found in historical documents or passed down culturally. This community of people share the same moral code and rituals. The code of ethics is clearly defined in religion.
Spirituality is a more abstract concept. It’s an individual practice with no defined code of ethics or rules. It’s the search for truth and the exploration of your soul and your connection to nature and other people. It’s about finding purpose and meaning. Spirituality often arises when people are looking for inner peace. Everyone’s spiritual experience and journey is different. Only you can define what spirituality looks like for you.
Joyfully,
