Does the cold weather and dark days have you moody and tired?
I can relate. I’ve had seasonal depression since my freshmen year of college. I feel like little orphan Annie in the Winter and Fall, “betting my bottom dollar that tomorrow there’ll be sun.” But over the years I’ve learned how to cope with it without meds.
When I need to recharge my body, increase my focus and lift my mood; I book a weekend getaway in a place with frequent flights and lots of sun. Whether that’s a tropical place south of the border or a nice coastal state like Florida or California… it gives me exactly what I need.
So book a trip and make it a point to soak up the sun and do absolutely nothing that drains your energy. That includes responding to follow-up emails from pushy vendors and that annoying team member that can’t seem to get anything done without your input.
Another thing you’ll want to do, is add a light therapy lamp to your Amazon cart. This is an energy booster and life saver on cold grey days. I love to sit in front of my lamp for 20 – 30 minutes while I have my morning tea and check my messages.
It’s not as powerful as the sun, but it definitely helps motivate you to get moving after seeing how your beautiful city view has turned into a dark cloudy sky and thick fog.
And lastly, make a summertime playlist. Listening to my favorite Summer songs always energizes me and puts me in an easy going mood. My top 3 songs are ” Everybody Loves the Sunshine,” by Roy Ayers; “Beautiful,” by Snoop Dogg; and “It Feels like Summer,” by Childish Gambino. So put in your Airpods and turn up the volume because music is healing.
Joyfully,
Ash
